On 12th October 2025, the EU launched the Entry/Exit System (EES)
Together with our British in Europe colleagues, we in British in Austria are capturing passenger feedback from British EU residents (e.g. Withdrawal AgreementWithdrawal Agreement The Withdrawal Agreement sets out the terms of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU and provides for a deal on citizens’ rights. It sets out a transition period which lasts until 31 December 2020. During this time you can continue to live, work and study in the EU broadly as you did before 31 January 2020. If you are resident in Austria at the end of the transition period, you will be covered by the Withdrawal Agreement, and your rights will be protected for as long as you remain resident in Austria. The information is being collected anonymously (i.e. you will not be asked for your personal details).
The information may be shared with authorities responsible for the operation and oversight of EES in order to facilitate the improvement of EES related processes in respect of British EU residents and their family members.
Aggregated statistical information may be used to inform key Stakeholders (e.g EU Commission, UK FCDO & Cabinet Office) of any systemic/major issues with the aim of improving EES related processes for British EU residents and their family members.

In the event of a serious issue (e.g. Entry Refusal) British Nationals resident in the EU are recommended to contact the nearest British embassy or consulate , or the FCDO in UK on +44 (0)20 7008 5000, selecting the option: ‘Consular services for British nationals’. You’ll be put through to the 24/7 Consular team in the Consular Contact Centre.
