› Forum › Article 50 EUV cards › Brexit Card Renewal For Minors in Graz
The following details my experience in December 2025 when renewing my 8-year-old daughter’s five-year Article 50 EUV (“Brexit”) card in Graz. I did not renew my own card.
Where? Amt der Steiermärkischen Landesregierung
Abteilung 3 – Verfassung und Inneres
Paulustorgasse 4, 8010 Graz
(Room 221A, 3rd floor)
ewr@stmk.gv.at
How? Send an email to ewr@stmk.gv.at to arrange an in-person appointment. I had contact with Frau Primus, who responded within one working day of my original enquiry.
What? You will need the following:
• A completed application form (available on the shelf outside of Room 221). You need all of your own details as well as those of your partner and the child, so don’t forget to have your social insurance numbers for everyone!
• A current (not older than 6 months) passport picture (45 x 35 mm)
• Your child’s valid passport
• Your child’s original Brexit card
• Confirmation of school attendance (ask your school secretary)
• Your child’s birth certificate
• Proof of employment (in my case, last 3 months of pay slips – I didn’t have my wife’s, which they asked for, but when I couldn’t give produce them, they didn’t seem too bothered)
• Marriage certificate (honestly I was surprised, but I had had this with my anyway, just in case)
• Your child
• €39
During the appointment (which took 15 minutes), the case worker copied our original documents, fingerprinted my daughter (standard for anyone over 6 years old) and had me sign the application form in her presence. We were then informed that we would receive an email with another appointment when the new Brexit card was ready to pick up and that my daughter should also be present then too.
Notes:
1. The information screens at the renewal office state that German should be used to communicate.
2. The case workers seem unfamiliar with the renewal procedure and one didn’t seem to know what an ‘Artikel 50 EUV’ card was (but ‘Brexit-Karte’ worked).
3. They automatically renewed my daughter’s Brexit card for 10 years – I didn’t have to ask.
