Good day to you all, so I have just been made unemployed from my present work due to me having back problems even though it has not impacted on my ability to work and I have had no time off, but because my Chef has anxiety that i MIGHT hurt myself and he has to pay out he has let me go and brought in a much younger man to replace me. I know that this is not allowed but he is willing to go to court over this as the risk to the form is to great for him!!
The question is can I apply for my Article 50 card whilst in this position, I live with my Austrian lady and have an Austrian son with her but I am reading that there is a possibility that I could be refused my Article 50 card, a bit of clarity would help me greatly as the situation is causing me a great deal of anxiety… Many thanks in advance.

          Hi Matt,

Sorry to hear about your situation and the impact on you and your family. We have had people apply for the Art 50 EUV card while unemployed – your first priority if you are not already AMS registered would be to register with them. If you have been in this job for at least 6 months, your “employed” status is protected for at least 6 months, and AMS Arbeitslosengeld with not impact your application for the Art 50 EUV card – you will still be able to get the card. I’ve got your e-mail address from the site admin (I think we met at Vienna Expats once) – so will drop you a mail. In case you have difficulties with the registration authority for it, let me know, I am helping a number of people with help through the Embassy and the Ministry for the Interior.

          Best regards, Mike (Bailey)
