Have been doing some research on buying a new car recently and came across some surprises. I believe a new NoVA calculation came in to effect on 1st July 2021. When importing or insuring cars please be careful that you use the correct CO2 value as there are multiple versions of CO2 calculations and dealers don’t always show the appropriate value for Austria (e.g. BMW dealers in Germany). I believe that Austria uses the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure) value and these different CO2 values can have a dramatic difference in the cost of importing and insuring a vehicle.
