Hi Rob (aka Spiv), aplogies for not responding sooner as I don’t check this forum very often. There was me thinking I was the only Brit in StAW! 🙂 I’m here with my Austrian partner too (no kids) and we live down in one of the blocks near the Sportplatz

Regarding the work scenario if you look on the UK Embassy in Vienna Facebook page you will find your answer – Yes.

Mike, I think the property rules might be slightly more nuanced than treating everyone as a 3CN (e.g. Tyrol makes reference to Artikel 50)

We get a plastic ID card with biometric data in the EU whereas those in the UK only get an email from the Home Office (trust us we never lose data) as “proof”.

Not available yet as far as I know. Probably available from 1st January 2021
It says it will be available from this website

Nope no test or anything. I submitted all the forms in October and once I got the Anmeldebescheinigung (finally last week), I sent them the details and I picked it up 5 days later. If I had wanted to keep all of my driving categories (e.g. lorry, minibus) I would have needed a medical. Basically we said just give me all the categories that I can have without the medical.

Picked up my Austrian driving license today. All the same categories as the UK except (B1 – Covered by B, C1, C1E, D1, D1E and P).
I can also drive a tractor (Category F) but given the size of the ones round here, think I will pass! 🙂::
For those that don’t have access to Facebook I am posting the following OeMTC link which may be useful –

Good morning,
I have chased the Embassy up again today as they did not reply to the Q&A related to driving licenses.
I have also asked them whether we need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) from ÖAMTC if we have pending license exchanges come 1st January 2021. The .GOV.UK is also old and vague and states that we MAY require an IDP from a UK Post Office!

Well Done!
Some of the people on the NHS Overseas Services Helpline are helpful some are not. The information on the .gov.uk website says the following:
“How to use an S1 form in Austria
You must register your S1 form with the state health insurance fund (called ‘Österreichische Gesundheitskasse’ in German).
Once registered, you’ll be given a card called an ‘e-card’. This shows that you’re entitled to healthcare on the same basis as an Austrian citizen.”
As you are in Vienna I would call up the ÖGK in Wien and ask them what to do
Österreichische Gesundheitskasse Wien
Wienerbergstraße 15-19
1100 WienTel.: 05 0766-11
Fax: 05 0766-113003
E-Mail:office-w@oegk.athttps://www.gesundheitskasse.at/cdscontent/?contentid=10007.852097&portal=oegkwportal
The post from the UK takes around a week but we are getting close to Xmas. If you don’t receive your S1 by post then ask the NHS Overseas Services Helpline if they can send it to you via NHS secure email (egress).
Good luck and take care!

No worries! I got given the runaround by NHS Overseas Healthcare Services too initially but S1’s should definitely fall within their remit. It may depend on your NI contributions which is why you should probably need to check with HMRC.
If you get the runaround from NHS Overseas Healthcare Services their complaints email address is nhsbsa.ohscomplaints@nhs.net.
The key thing is that HMRC need to have your up to date address details.

Forgot there is also the HMRC NI :Non UK Resident Team who are also quite helpful if they can be – +44 191 203 7010
::
Your best bet is to call NHS Overseas Healthcare Services on Telephone: +44 (0)191 218 1999 and ask them if it applies to you. You will need to give them your UK National Insurance Number. They deal with S1’s and EHIC cards.

Hi,
I am not an expert in these matters but you could look at the following website – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/healthcare-in-austria
If you are 67 (UK pension age), you lived in the UK and paid taxes in the UK you should look at the section that deals with “UK-funded healthcare: getting and using an S1 form in Austria”.
Hope this helps!
